25-Year-Old Putnam Man Nabbed For Northern Westchester Vehicle Larcenies

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to break into numerous vehicles and taking police on a foot pursuit when they attempted to stop him.

Michael S. O'Connor, of Carmel, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 15, by state police after they received a call about a suspicious person on Ridge Road, in Northern Westchester, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

Responding Troopers found and attempted to interview a male subject in the area. The subject, later identified as, O’Connor, fled on foot from the approaching troopers, Hicks said.

After a short pursuit, O’Connor was located in a nearby wooded area and placed under arrest without further incident.

He was charged with:

  • Grand larceny
  • Criminal possession of stolen property
  • Petit larceny
  • Criminal possession of stolen property
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance 
  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstruction of governmental administration

O’Connor was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Cortlandt Court on Monday, Dec. 28.

Hicks said the crime was solved with the help of the public who reported the suspicious person.
